✨Artwork backstory✨

I recently got very excited to apply for an art residency which prides itself on diversity, and I found that the studio was not wheelchair accessible, but it was dog friendly.

Other dog friendly, non accessible places include but are not limited to: 98% of independent coffee shops in london (especially the ones where the baristas wear tiny hats), art studios, pubs, houses, shops, markets, town squares, art exhibitions, tattoo studios, ur nans house, ur nans mates house.

The problem, obviously, is not the dogs.

It is not the dogs fault that they have more access than disabled humans do. I've been disabled for years, have been using a wheelchair for 12 months and I am constantly being told that somewhere is wheelchair accessible, when their toilet is down a flight of stairs, or it is accessible “but”… insert reason why it’s absolutely not accessible.

You are not accessible if your accessible toilet is so full of stock that i cannot get in. you are not accessible if your ramp is at a ridiculous height. you are not accessible if you do not have a toilet. you are not accessible if it is more difficult for a disabled person to enter your premises than a dog.
